Wild Drops Game Four To Chiefs

Wenatchee, WA. – The Wenatchee Wild battled hard all night but a pair of goals against in the second period spelled defeat for the Wild, as the Chilliwack Chiefs skated away with a 4-2 victory in game four of the Mainland Division title series, in front of 1,956 at the Town Toyota Center.

Chilliwack would open the scoring 2:57 into the contest on a Ryan Forbes unassisted goal. The marker would give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead after one.

In the second, Chilliwack would up the lead to 2-0 on a Darien Craighead goal, assisted by Jake Smith at 5:03. But, Wenatchee would battle back. Blake Christensen (Lauderhill, FL) scored, off assists by Brendan Harris (Las Vegas, NV) and Charlie Combs (St. Louis, MO) at 7:16, slicing the deficit to 2-1. Then, three minutes later, Combs blew one past the goaltender’s catch glove and in, assisted by Bryan Yoon (Parker, CO) and Daniel Nachbaur (Seattle, WA) at 10:20, knotting the game for the Wild at 2-2. However, a pair of goals 24 seconds apart would put the Chiefs back on top. Craighead scored unassisted at 13:33, and then Dennis Chowlowski scored from Jordan Kawaguchi at 13:57, putting Chilliwack back on top, at 4-2.

Both teams battled hard throughout the third period, but Wenatchee was unable to light the lamp, as the Chiefs held on for the 4-2 win and a 3 games to 1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

The Wild outshot Chilliwack in the game 38-29. Chase Perry (Andover, MN) made 25 saves for Wenatchee; Aidan Pelino made 36 saves for Chilliwack. The Wild went 0-for-1 on the power play and 1-of-1 on the penalty kill. “I think we let one slip away there.” said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach/General Manager Bliss Littler. “We played awful well tonight. Some of the bounces went their way, but I thought it was an extremely well played game by both teams. Look forward to getting after it Thursday night in Chilliwack.”

Wenatchee trails the second round, best-of-seven series 3 games to 1. Game five takes place in Chilliwack on Thursday, March 24^th. If game six is needed, it would be in Wenatchee on Friday, March 25^th, with a game seven if needed set for Chilliwack on Saturday, March 26^th.
