Ams lose in Vancouver
Vancouver. B.C. -- The Vancouver Giants staved off every Tri-City Americans comeback, skating to a 5-2 win Saturday night, before 6,156 at their former home, Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.
The Giants skated to a 2-0 lead after one. Milos Roman scored on the power play, assisted by Dylan Plouffe at 3:05, then Evan Patrician scored unassisted at 12:46, giving Vancouver their first two-goal lead of the night,
In the second period, Isaac Johnson got Tri-City on the board with his 10th marker of the year, a power play goal assisted by Samuel Stewart and Connor Bouchard at 8:25, cutting the deficit to 2-1.The Giants responded six minutes later with a Dawson Holt goal at 14:26, assisted by Owen Hardy, to increase the lead to 3-1. The Americans would crawl within one once again with Parker AuCoin's 13th goal of the season, assisted by Krystof Hrabik and Aaron Hyman on the power play at 16:35, to narrow the gap to one once more but could get no closer. Brayden Watts scored for Vancouver from Dawson Holt and Milos Roman at 17:31, for a 4-2 lead through 40 minutes.
The Giants would add one more in the third, as Bowen Byram scored an empty net, short handed goal from Davis Koch at 18:55 to cap the scoring, giving Vancouver the final winning margin of 5-2.
David Tendeck made 24 saves for the Giants, while Beck Warm had 32 saves for Tri-City. Vancouver was 1-for-4 on the power play, the Americans were 2-for-7.
With the win, the Giants improved to 19-6-2-0 for 40 points, first in the B.C. Division. With the loss, Tri-City is now 14-10-1-0 for 29 points, 4th in the U.S. Division.
