Cornish, Stamps run wild over Roughriders in win

CALGARY, AB -- The Calagry Stameders' offensive line made racking up rushing yards a breeze for Jon Cornish.
Cornish had the best game of his career with 149 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Calgary Stampeders to a convincing 40-3 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in CFL action on Saturday afternoon.
"Right now it feels really easy,'' said Cornish, who also had 32 receiving yards on one catch. "We came out and the running game started working for us. The O-line was blocking like crazy. It was just amazing seeing these holes. I followed them and they worked out.''
Cornish's big game came with Joffrey Reynolds sitting out his second straight game as a healthy scratch.

Beavers rumble, then stumble in the desert

TEMPE, AZ. -- Arizona State made enough mistakes Saturday night at Sun Devil Stadium to leave the door open for an upset victory by Oregon State.
On a record-setting night by Sean Mannion, the Beavers responded with too many muck-ups of their own, the result a 35-20 win by the 25th-ranked Sun Devils.
Oregon State (0-4 overall, 0-2 in Pac-10 action) had five turnovers, 13 penalties for 139 yards and enough special-teams blunders for Arizona State (4-1, 2-0) to escape with victory.
“It’s tough,” said OSU cornerback Jordan Poyer, who had two interceptions but also a muffed punt that led to an Arizona State touchdown. “This was a game that came down to a few plays."

Instead, the fourth inning came and went, as did the Rays' chances in an 8-6 loss Saturday night at Rangers Ballpark.

DOVER, De. -- Carl Edwards pulled away from Brad Keselowski and Clint Bowyer after a restart on Lap 168 of 200 to win Saturday's OneMain Financial 200 Nationwide Series race at Dover International Speedway.
The victory was Edwards' seventh of the year and the 36th of his career. Keselowski held off Bowyer in the closing laps to claim the runner-up position, with Bowyer running third.
Kasey Kahne finished fourth, one spot ahead of series leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who extended his margin to 22 points over pole-sitter Elliott Sadler, who ran 14th. There are five races left in the season.
