
Tyler Myers scored in the sixth round of the shoot out and Ryan Miller stayed undefeated on the season, as the Buffalo Sabres out-lasted the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 Saturday night, in front of 15,804 at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida.
Vincent Lecavalier scored with one second to go in the first period, giving the Lightning a 1-0 lead.
In the second, Mike Grier scored for Buffalo at 19:14, tying the game 1-1 through 40 minutes.
In the third, Steven Stamkos slipped in a wrap-around at 4:26 to put Tampa Bay back on top at 2-1, but Drew Stafford scored for the Sabres at 19:43, tying the game 2-2.
Neither team was able to light the lamp in overtime, and the game moved on to a deciding shootout.
The shootout went six rounds, with Tyler Myers scoring in round six to win the game 3-2 for Buffalo. Myers was the only shooter to find the net in the shootout.
The Sabres out-shot the Lightning 33-26. Ryan Miller had 24 saves and is 6-0-1 this eason for Buffalo, who scored once in 6 power play chances. Mike Smith had 31 saves for the Lightning, who misfired on six power plays.
Buffalo improves to 6-1-1 for 13 points, 1 point ahead of Ottawa in the Northeast. Tampa Bay slips to 3-3-3 fpr 9 points and tied for second in the Southeast with Atlanta, 5 points behind first place Washington.
The Lightning hosts the Northeast-leading Ottawa Senators on Thursday, October 29th. It'll be Hockey Fights Cancer Night, with face-off set for 7:00p.m. EDT. 620 WDAE has the radio call and Sun Sports the telecast. New Jersey visits Tampa for the second time this season on Saturday, October 31st at 3:00p.m. EDT.
