U.S. National Sled Hockey Team Heads to Toronto This Weekend for 2013 World Sledge Hockey Challenge
Team USA to compete against Canada, Korea and Russia
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will play in the 2013 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, Dec. 1-7, in Toronto, Ontario, as part of its preparation for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. In addition to the United States, the tournament includes Canada, Korea and Russia.
The U.S., which won the 2012 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, has participated in each of the last six tournaments. Team USA also won the tournament title at the 2009 event. Additionally, Team USA has won three of the last four major international events, including the 2009 International Paralympic Committee World Sledge Hockey Championship in Ostrava, Czech Republic; the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver, B.C.; and the 2012 IPC World Sledge Hockey Championship in Hamar, Norway.
The United States roster is highlighted by captain Andy Yohe (Bettendorf, Iowa); alternate captains Taylor Chace (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and Josh Sweeney (Phoenix, Ariz.); and goaltender Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.). For a complete U.S. roster, click here.

Plans Remain Same Despite Date Change Announced by IIHF Today
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - While the International Ice Hockey Federation today announced that the deadline to submit rosters for the men's ice hockey competition for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games has been extended to Jan. 7, USA Hockey will move forward with plans to announce both its men’s and women’s Olympic hockey teams on Jan. 1 live on NBC Sports at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., as part of the National Hockey League’s Winter Classic.
“We look forward to celebrating the American player through the announcement of our Olympic teams as part of the NHL Winter Classic,” said Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA Hockey. “It will be an extraordinary stage with an Original Six matchup, a record crowd, a worldwide television audience, the great pageantry of the event itself, and of course the unveiling of both our men’s and women’s Olympic teams.”
The women’s roster will be unveiled in the second intermission of the game, while the men’s team will be revealed on the ice at the conclusion of the Winter Classic.
