Oregon suspends Blount for remainder of season

Here's what I don't understand:

Blount keeps his scholorship. Why?

Hout, the Boise State player who started the whole post-game fiasco, won't be suspended but rather, will spend time this week with his coach, who'll try to show him how his actions were wrong. Again, why? They aren't even sending this kid to bed without dessert. What is that teaching him? He started what could have been the worst riot in the history of sports, and he barely even gets his wrist slapped? Great. Just great.

Apparently these two schools just don't get it.
