Rays manager Joe Maddon said Friday creating a lineup to face White Sox left-hander John Danks is "maddening." So Maddon went to the drawing board, loaded his lineup with lefties and ran out a lineup that gave Danks fits.

But the contributions from players stuck in monthlong slumps made the biggest difference, as Tampa Bay (34-16) overcame its recent struggles at the plate and its history against Danks with an 8-5 win over Chicago (21-28) on Saturday night before 33,558 in Tropicana Field thanks to huge hits from the scuffling Carlos Pena and B.J. Upton.

The Rays, 34-16 and 4 1/2 games up on the Yankees in the A.L. East, host the White Sox one more time, this afternoon at 1:40pm EDT on 620AM WDAE and the Rays Radio Network. You can also watch the game on Sun Sports and MLB.TV. Tampa Bay then hits the road for three games against the Blue Jays and three against Texas, starting tomorrow night in Toronto, with first pitch scheduled for 7:07pm EDT.
