A sixth-inning walk with the bases loaded was the difference, as the Tampa Bay Rays topped the Baltimore Orioles 5-4, before 19,286 at Camden Yards in Baltimore yesterday afternoon.

The Rays built a 4-0 lead early in the game. In the first, Evan Longoria blasted a home run into the left field seats, giving Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead. In the second, Reid Brignac singled home Matt Joyce, and Ben Zobrist doubled home Willy Aybar. With two outs in the third, Aybar's double brought home Longoria and the Rays had a 4-0 lead.

Baltimore tied the game quickly. In the fourth, Ty Wiggington homered, bringing Adam Jones with him, and a double to left by Jake Fox brought home Jones. The O's tied the game 4-4 in the fifth, as Luke Scott rolled a grounder to first, allowing Tejada to score the tying run. Tampa Bay got the run they needed for the win in the sixth, as a bases loaded walk to Longoria forced home Kelly Shoppach. The Rays held on from there, winning the game 5-4.

James Shields went 6 1/3 innings for Tampa Bay, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 strike out and 1 walk. The win moved his record to 8-9. Rafael Soriano pitched a perfect ninth with 1 strike out, posting his 24th save of the season. Bergesen took the loss for Baltimore, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits, with 7 strike outs and 3 walks. He's now 3-8.

The Rays are now 57-37 and remain 2 1/2 games behind the Yankees in the A.L. East. They also lead the A.L. Wild Card chase. Tampa Bay starts a three game series in Cleveland starting tomorrow night at 7:05pm EDT, before returning home on Monday, July 26th for their longest home stand of the season, 11 games, with the first of a four-game set against Detroit, to be followed by three against the Yankees and four against Minnesota. Chad Billingsley pitched a five-hit, 125 pitch shut out last night, as the Los Angeles Dodgers broke a six-game losing streak, with a 2-0 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Casey Blake supplied all the offense the Dodgers would need, wrapping a lead of homer around the foul pole in left, then singling home a run in the eighth. The Giants threatened in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but Billingsley shut them down each time, improving to 8-5. Barry Zito was tagged with the loss for the Giants, he's also 8-5.

San Francisco opens a four-game set at Arizona starting tonight, before returning home Monday for 4 against Florida and 3 against the Dodgers. The Giants have a big 3-game series at home against San Diego coming up August 13th through 15th. This coming Saturday's game with the Dodgers airs on FOX, with the Sunday game against the Dodgers showing on ESPN.

Sosebee believes that one of his neighbors might have seen his ceramic chickens on his front lawn and called the county, thinking that the chickens were real.
