
Bobby Thomson, the man who hit "The shot heard 'round the world," capping a sensational rise in the standings by the New York Giants, who then won a three-game playoff over the Brooklyn Dodgers to claim the National Pennant in 1951, has passed away at his home in Savannah, Georgia. He was 86.
