SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants manager Bruce Bochy recited the formula for success against the Rangers in the World Series. It sounded a lot like the blueprint for winning any other game against any other team.

"We have to pitch the ball and catch it and find a way to get a hit," Bochy said during the Giants' workout Monday night at AT&T Park. "We'll keep it simple here."

Some might accuse Bochy of oversimplification. But that could be the best approach for the Giants against the American League champions, who are mostly unfamiliar to them and will remain so until the Fall Classic begins here Wednesday night.
