DETROIT -- With two runners on, one out and a rookie making his Major League debut, the Rays were ready to increase their slim lead on the Tigers. Detroit reliever Charlie Furbush walked the first batter he faced -- second baseman Sean Rodriguez -- to load the bases, and the Rays were in business.
But Furbush gained his composure and struck out the next two batters to end the threat. The missed opportunity turned out to be a killer for Tampa Bay, as the Rays fell to the Tigers, 6-3, on Monday at Comerica Park - their fourth loss in five games.

In Michigan a guy in a car struck a rabbit crossing the road, injuring, but not killing it. He completed the killing but was also pulled over by a nearby cop, who smelled booze and arrested him. He told he judge he pulled a U-turn "to go perform a mercy killing."
