Riders fire Marshall, Berry; Miller to take over
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that they have released head coach Greg Marshall and offensive coordinator Doug Berry from their contracts. Vice-President of Football Operations Ken Miller will take over the head coaching duties effective immediately.
“This was an extremely difficult decision to make especially when dealing with such quality individuals like Greg and Doug,” stated Riders General Manager Brendan Taman. “As the season has progressed we have become increasingly concerned with the direction the club has been going. We are committed to winning this season and felt this was the best course of action to get the team back on track.”
Greg Marshall was hired as the Riders 28th head coach in modern history on January 5th, 2011. Doug Berry was hired as the team’s offensive coordinator and assistant head coach in February of 2008.
Ken Miller originally joined the Roughriders in 2007 as the team’s offensive coordinator. As head coach of the Riders from 2008-2010, Miller guided the team to three home playoff games and two consecutive Grey Cup appearances.
