....Down 7-0 to the Yankees after 7 1/2 innings, the Tampa Bay Rays scored 6 times in the 8th, keyed by a three-run homer by Evan Longoria, then a 2 strike, 2 out homer in the 9th by pinch hitter Dan Johnson to force extra-innings. The game moved into the bottom of the 12th, where Longoria would come up and line one over the short wall in the left field corner to win the game for the Rays, 8-7 over New York. Combined with Baltimore's 4-3 come-back win over Boston, the Rays clinch the American League wild card, becoming the first team in major league history to reach the post-season after being as far as 9 games out in September. They're also the first team ever to start a season 1-8 and win 90 games.
The Rays open the ALDS Series "B" against West winner and defending A.L. champion Texas, the team that knocked them out of the post-season last year on Friday, September 30th at 5:07pm EDT and Saturday, October 1st. The series shifts to St. Petersburg for games on Monday and Tuesday, October 3rd and 4th(If needed). If needed, Game 5 would be back in Arlington on Thursday, October 6th. At this point, start times for games 2 through 5 is to be determined.
