Minneapolis, MN. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning should have started worrying as soon as goalie Niklas Backstrom was pulled Sunday night against the Calgary Flames.
True to form, the Minnesota Wild goalie bounced back in a big way, stopping 32 of 33 shots – a night after conceding three goals on eight shots – to help his club snap a two-game skid with a 3-1 win against the Lightning at the Xcel Energy Center on Monday night.

Jimmy Connelly (Galloway, N.J.) scored his first goal of the tournament at 13:31 of the first period on the power play. Then, Alexi Salamone (Grand Island, N.Y.) added a goal at 16:52 to send Team USA into the locker room at the first intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Japan made it a two-goal game early in the second period, but Kevin McKee (Davenport, Iowa) answered with another U.S. goal 20 seconds later.
