Dehner Named to 2011 U.S. Men's National Select Team

Defenseman to Replace Injured Eaves

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Jeremy Dehner (Madison, Wis./UMass Lowell) has been named to the 2011 U.S. Men's National Select Team, it was announced today by USA Hockey. The defenseman will replace Ben Eaves (Minneapolis, Minn./Boston College), who will not participate with the U.S. Men's National Select Team due to injury.

Dehner is currently in his second season with Jokerit Helsinki of the Finnish Elite League, SM-lliga. In his first season with the club, the defenseman tallied 25 points (4-21) and posted a plus-17 rating in 60 games. Prior to playing overseas, Dehner played eight games for the Norfolk Admirals (2009-10) of the American Hockey League after playing four seasons (2006-10) at UMass Lowell. Dehner also played two seasons (2004-06) for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League.

The U.S. Men's National Select Team will compete at the Deutschland Cup from Nov. 11-13, in Munich, Germany. Team USA opens up the tournament against Slovakia in its first game on Nov. 11 at 10:15 a.m. EST. A full schedule is below.

NOTES: The U.S. roster includes 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders ... Thirteen members of Team USA have National Hockey League experience, while 20 played U.S. college hockey ... The Deutschland Cup has been held every year since 1987 and will feature teams from Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and the United States ... Team USA has participated in the Deutschland Cup on six occasions (2002-05, 2007, 2009). The U.S. won the tournament in 2003 and 2004, garnered second-place finishes in 2007 and 2009 and finished third in 2005 ... Jim Johannson, USA Hockey's assistant executive director of hockey operations, will serve as general manager of the team. Don Waddell, long-time head coach and general manager in the National Hockey League and International Hockey League, will serve as head coach with Chris Chelios, advisor to hockey operations of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings, and Bill Guerin, player development coach of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, serving as assistant coaches ... The following support staff will assist the 2011 U.S. Men's Select Team: Bob Webster, team leader; Scott Aldrich, equipment manager; Stan Wong, athletic trainer; Peewee Willmann, massage therapist; and Mike Shindle, team doctor ... The U.S. Men's National Team Advisory Group, comprised of Brian Burke, David Poile, Don Waddell, Ray Shero, Paul Holmgren, Dean Lombardi, and Dale Tallon, was formed in February 2007 and assists USA Hockey in the selection of staff and players for all U.S. Men's National Teams.

Mark Bahr Named Video Coordinator for U.S. National Junior Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey today announced that Mark Bahr will serve as video coordinator for the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete at the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship from Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Calgary, Alta.

Bahr is currently in his 17th season as the director of hockey operations for the University of Minnesota's men's ice hockey team. In that role, he handles all video responsibilities associated with the Golden Gophers, as well as travel and ticketing issues. The former Gophers hockey player graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in sports management.

NOTES: Dean Blais, head men's ice hockey coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha, will serve as head coach of the 2012 U.S. National Junior Team. He will be assisted by Scott Sandelin, head men's ice hockey coach at the University of Minnesota Duluth; Tom Ward, head ice hockey coach of the Shattuck-St. Mary's School's boys' prep team; and Joe Exter, assistant men's ice hockey coach at Ohio State University ... Jim Johannson, USA Hockey's assistant executive director of hockey operations, is serving as the general manager of Team USA for the third consecutive year ... Tim Taylor (Guilford, Conn.), former U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team head coach and longtime Yale University men's ice hockey team head coach, is also serving his third straight year as Team USA's director of player personnel ...
