Montreal Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau suffers stroke
From the Canadian Press
MONTREAL - Prime Minister Stephen Harper is sending wishes for a speedy recovery to Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau.
Beliveau is in a Montreal hospital after suffering a stroke.
Harper said in a statement from Ottawa today that Beliveau is a great Canadian and a remarkable ambassador for Canada's national sport.
The Montreal Canadiens say the 80-year-old Hall of Famer was admitted to hospital after having the stroke Monday evening.
The NHL team says Beliveau is currently being examined and undergoing treatment.
Beliveau played his entire NHL career-20 seasons-with the Habs before hanging up his skates in 1971.
He won 10 Stanley Cups.
