The righty gave up three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and five walks in 3 1/3 innings en route to a 3-2 loss to the Indians in the series opener at Tropicana Field on Monday.

... Donald J. Sobol, the author of the popular Encyclopedia Brown and Two-Minute Mysteries series, died on Wednesday. He was 87.

... Kitty Wells, the Queen of Country Music, passed away Monday after complications from a stroke. She was 92.
