USA Hockey Renews Partnership With Liberty Mutual Insurance

USA Hockey Remains Lead Hockey Partner of Responsible Sports Program

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—USA Hockey today announced a renewal agreement with Liberty Mutual Insurance, one of the leading insurance companies in the United States, spanning through the 2013-14 season. The renewal ensures that USA Hockey will remain the lead hockey partner to the Liberty Mutual Responsible Sports program, an online community that celebrates and promotes responsible youth coaching and sports parenting.

Liberty Mutual Insurance will also remain the official insurance partner of USA Hockey.

"We are very happy to extend our partnership with Liberty Mutual Insurance," said Dave Ogrean, executive director for USA Hockey. "The work that Liberty Mutual Insurance has done with its Responsible Sports program has had a tremendously positive influence on youth sports in this country and the program remains in line with our values of growing ice hockey at the grassroots level and promoting a lifelong love of the sport."

Liberty Mutual Insurance will also be a sponsor of USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program, parent education, and adult hockey.

Through the Responsible Sports Program, USA Hockey members have access to educational materials for parents and coaches, including videos and podcasts, as well as access to tools including the Season Evaluation Tool.

Central to the program are Community Grants, which are awarded to 15 youth sports organizations across the country twice a year. Organizations achieving the highest level of community participation in the online Responsible Coaching or Responsible Sport Parenting guide in their respective divisions will earn a $2,500 grant to help defray costs such as player scholarships, coaching education, new equipment or facility maintenance.

"Community embodiment of sportsmanship and personal responsibility is essential to provide an enriching youth sports environment," said Julie Brassard, Liberty Mutual director of sponsorships. "We value partners like USA Hockey that share a similar passion for championing the positive life lessons taught through youth sports."
