Third Annual USA Hockey Sled Classic Crowns Champions In Record Field
Dallas Stars win 'A' Division; Washington Capitals secure 'B' Division
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The third annual USA Hockey Sled Classic, presented by the National Hockey League and hosted by the Buffalo Sabres, was held last weekend at the Northtown Center at Amherst in Williamsville, N.Y. The event, part of USA Hockey and the NHL's Come Play Hockey Month, featured a record 14 teams, all affailiated with an NHL club.

The weekend culminated with Sunday's (Nov. 11) championship games. In the 'A' Division, the Dallas Stars took home the title by beating the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2, while the Washington Capitals defeated the Carolina Hurricanes by a 6-0 count to earn the 'B' Division crown.
Other NHL clubs that sponsored teams included the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Each sled hockey team represented its affiliated NHL club by wearing official NHL licensed jerseys with local club marks and logos.

NOTES: The Colorado Avalanche hosted the inaugural USA Hockey Sled Classic in 2010. The injury sustained by LB Quincy Black against the Chargers on Sunday will end his 2012 season, as he was placed on I.R. by Tampa Bay on Tuesday…Black, who had contributed 32 tackles and three tackles for loss as the team's starting strongside linebacker, wasn't immediately replaced on the 53-man roster.
