Lalonde Named Head Coach of 2013 U.S. Junior Select Team
             Team USA to Compete at World Junior A Challenge Nov. 4-10 in Yarmouth, N.S.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Derek Lalonde (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) will serve as head coach of the U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete in the 2013 World Junior A Challenge, USA Hockey announced today. The six-team international tournament takes place Nov. 4-10 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Team USA has won four of the last five tournaments (2008-10, '12).

Lalonde is in his third season as head coach and general manager of the United States Hockey League's Green Bay Gamblers. Last fall, he was an assistant coach for the U.S. squad that went undefeated (4-0-0) en route to the World Junior A Challenge championship. In 2011-12, Lalonde led the Gamblers to USHL Clark Cup (regular season) and Anderson Cup (playoff) titles.

The assistant coaches for the 2013 U.S. Junior Select Team will be Anthony Noreen (Chicago, Ill.) and Mark Abalan (Duluth, Minn.). Noreen is head coach and general manager of the USHL's Youngstown Phantoms, while Abalan is an assistant coach for the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers.

The 22-man roster for the U.S. Junior Select Team will be announced later this month.

Team USA faces Canada West in an exhibition game Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. ADT. Tournament play begins for the U.S. Nov. 5 vs. Russia at 8:00 p.m. AST. The complete schedule is listed below.
