McDonald's unveiled a new mascot Monday. It's called "Happy" -- and it's an animated Happy Meal box with a set of teeth on the front and a pair of cartoon arms and legs. The character has been around overseas since 2009 but this is the first time Happy is being introduced stateside.

Elvis Presley's song "Flaming Star" hit #14 in the U.S. The song was from, "Elvis By Request," an experimental four-track release at 33rpm. 

1978 - The Elvis Presley compilation album "Elvis - The '56 Sessions, Vol. 1" hit #47 in the U.K. 

1989 - Elvis Presley's album "Roustabout" was certified gold by the RIAA. 

1989 - The Elvis Presley albums "Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite" and "Elvis Sings The Wonderful World Of Christmas" were certified by the RIAA to have sold 2 million copies.


The power of dogs' noses is well documented, and that reputation continues to improve. Researchers have discovered that our canine companions' snouts may be more accurate than advanced laboratory procedures when it comes to detecting certain forms of cancer. Researchers in Italy (Istituto Clinico Humanitas) trained two dogs that can sniff out the scent of prostate cancer in urine samples with a success rate of 98 percent.

A Michigan woman told police that her stepmother became angry at her because she cussed at the stepmother's daughter. The stepmother responded by taking some taco meat and throwing it at the victim, damaging her laptop.

Charles Lindbergh took off from New York on this date in 1927 to cross the Atlantic for Paris aboard his airplane the "Spirit of St. Louis." The trip took 33 1/2 hours.
