Photographer Grant Hughes recorded a video of swallows operating an automatic door in a bike parking garage at the University of Victoria in Canada. According to Hughes, the swallows were already nesting in the garage when the door was added to the entrance. The birds are able to activate the motion sensors for the door from both the inside and outside, which allows them to pass in and out of the garage with ease. Video

A 19-year-old's attempt to fly into the record books will start today (Wednesday) in San Diego. Matt Guthmiller will take off from Gillespie Field and try to become the youngest person to fly solo around the world. He estimates it will take him about 40 days with 20 stops on 5 continents. The current record is held by a 21-year-old. Guthmiller will post updates on his Facebook page.

The 40,000-square-foot business includes 24 firearm lanes, 10 archery lanes and a cafe where food and alcohol will be served. But there will be precautions. Co-owner Jeff Swanson says customers' driver's licenses will be flagged once they order a drink, preventing them from drinking alcohol before entering the shooting facilities.
