Tampa, FL. -- Tampa Bay closed out its first road trip of the year with a convincing 4-2 win Friday against Winnipeg before Saturday’s, 7-2 debacle versus Minnesota. Still, the Lightning picked up six of a possible ten points on what would have to be considered a successful five-game swing through Western Canada and Minnesota. What can Lightning fans expect to see when the Bolts return to Amalie Arena for Tuesday’s matchup versus the Arizona Coyotes? We’ve got you covered.

The Tampa Bay Juniors played this past weekend, with the Empire team winning twice and the Elite team once.

On Saturday the 25th, the Empire team scored three times in the first, cruising to a 3-1 win over the Florida Eels. Max Mulholland, Tyler Camposano and Josh Basso scored for the Juniors, who got 40 saves from Sam Coleman. Tampa Bay was 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-of-2 on the penalty kill.

On Sunday the 26th, the Empire team won again, edging the Florida Eels in dramatic comeback fashion, 3-2. Alexander Trendall scored in the second period, while Raven Woodring and Michael Demiceli both scored late in regulation to secure the win. Sam Coleman made 62 saves for Tampa Bay, which went 1-for-5 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

On Saturday the 25th, the Elite team saw their seven-game win streal come to an end in an 8-3 loss to the Florida Eels. Brandon Goudreau, Jared Goudreau and Ryan Odgers scored for Tampa Bay, Nick Levesque and Michael Krch combined to make 25 saves for the Juniors. Tampa Bay was 0-for-3 on the power play and 1-of-3 on the penalty kill.


On Sunday the 26th, the Elite team rebounded for a 3-0 win over the Florida Eels. After a scoreless first period, Jared Goudreau scored a pair of second period power play goals, while Brandon Goudreau added a third period power play counter for the Juniors. Michael Krch made 33 saves in recording the shutout for Tampa Bay, which went 3-for-4 on the power play and 2-of-2 on the penalty kill.

Coming up this next weekend, the Juniors take on the Palm Beach Hawks. On Saturday, the games in Ellenton, start at 5:15pm EDT for the Empire and 8:00pm EDT for the Elite. On Sunday, the games in Ellenton start at 9:30am EST for the Empire game and 12:15pm EST for the Elite game. All games are available on Fasthockey.com.

Regina, SK. -- For three quarters it looked like the Saskatchewan Roughriders were going to go into their second and final bye week of the season full of positives. They had a 27-12 lead and were playing the type of football they were in the first half of the season when they were 8-2. However, a football game is 60 minutes long and that final 15 minutes was a disaster.
