Surrey, British Columbia. – Three first period goals were
more than enough Saturday night, as the Wenatchee Wild skated to a 4-1 win over
the Surrey Eagles, putting the finishing touch on an unbeaten BCHL preseason.
The Wild scored three times in the opening period, as Dakota Raabe
scored from Mike Coyne and Konsta Jaske, Kyle Stephan scored from Hunter Alden
and Jeff Makowski and Coyne would counter a Surrey goal, assisted by Raabe and
Stephan, giving Wenatchee a 3-1 lead after one.
Following a scoreless second period, Raabe would add a third
period goal assisted by Coyne and Stephan, propelling the Wild to the 4-1 win,
outshooting Surrey 42-12 in the process, including a 21-1 shot margin in the
third.
“We played with speed.” said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach/General
Manager Bliss Littler. “I thought we made a lot of plays, Nieto played well in
net, made some big saves. I was pleased with our effort. It’s exhibition
season, there’s no points given for this, but we have something to build on.”
The Wild open their inaugural season in the BCHL next Friday and
Saturday, September 11th and 12th, as they travel to Prince George to take on
the Spruce Kings, with face off both nights set for 7:00pm PDT, with the game
broadcasts available on both KPQ 560AM and Fasthockey pay-per-view. The Wild
play their home opener October 10th at the Town Toyota Center against
Coquitlam, beginning at 7:05pm PDT. Tickets are available at the box office, or
by calling the Wild at 509-888-7825.
