Wenatchee, WA. – Salmon Arm
invaded the Town Toyota Center Friday night and came away with the win,
knocking off the Wenatchee Wild 4-0, in front of 3,744 fans.
The Silverbacks scored twice in the first period. Carson Bolduc
scored an unassisted goal at 5:12, putting the visitors up 1-0. The lead grew 3
minutes later, as Aaron Aragon scored from Taro Hirose and Phil Middleton at
8:19, giving Salmon Arm a 2-0 lead after one.
After a scoreless second period, the Silverbacks would score
twice more in the third. Bolduc scored his second of the night at 3:26,
assisted by Colton Thibault, for a 3-0 lead. Then late in the contest, Cameron
Trott scored from Elijiah Barriga and Jared Turcotte. The goal, coming at the
18:32 mark, gave Salmon Arm the 4-0 win.
Wenatchee outshot the Silverbacks 51-31 on the night. Chase Perry (Andover, MN) and Garrett
Nieto (Yorba Linda, CA) combined to make 27 saves for the Wild, while Angus
Redmond made 51 saves for the Silverbacks. Wenatchee went 0-for-5 on the power
play and 3-of-3 on the penalty kill. “Obviously, when you put 51 shots on the
net,” said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach/General Manager Bliss Littler. “their kid
played well in goal but we didn’t bear down on our chances. We’ve got to play
better at keeping pucks out of our net.”
With the win, Salmon Arm improves to 23-10-2-2 on the season; Wenatchee
is now 23-11-2-3. The Wild next plays on Wednesday, January 13th,
when they travel to Penticton to take on the Vees. Wenatchee returns home to
host the Nanaimo Clippers on Friday, January 15th and Merritt
Centennials on Saturday, January 16th, 7:05pm both nights at the
Town Toyota Center.
