Wenatchee, WA. – The Wenatchee
Wild spotted the Langley Rivermen a pair of goals to start a third straight
game, but like the others came back to win, this time 6-3, in front of 3,112 at
the Town Toyota Center.
Torrin White would give Langley the early advantage at 5:21,
assisted by Dominic Franco and Matthew Graham, putting the Rivermen up 1-0.
Then, six minutes later, Graham would score from White and Jordan Schneider at
11:23, for a 2-0 Langley lead. After that, August
Von Ungern (Boise, ID) would kick start the Wild offense with a pair of
goals, the first unassisted at 14:31 and the second assisted by Troy Conzo (Nesconset, NY) and Konsta Jaske (Samammish, WA) at 19:41,
tying the game 2-2 after one.
Wenatchee would score a pair in the second. Tyler Rockwell (San Jose, CA) scored from the slot on the power
play, assisted by Mike Coyne
(Buffalo, NY) and Charlie Combs (St.
Louis, MO) at 12:47, for a 3-2 Wild lead. Then, Kyle Stephan (Barrie, ON) scored a power play goal from the left
circle, assisted by Bryan Yoon
(Parker, CO) and Combs at 16:14, giving Wenatchee a 4-2 advantage through 40
minutes.
Matty Saharchuk would light the lamp early in the third, assisted
by Justin Fregona. The goal, at 23 seconds, brought the Rivermen back to within
one, at 4-3. However, the Wild would hold on from there, adding unassisted
goals from Colin Burston (Winnipeg,
MB) at 15:55 and Stephan into an empty net at 19:49 for the 6-3 Wild win. The
game then broke down in the final 11 seconds, with numerous penalties ending
the evening.
Wenatchee outshot Langley 42-29 on the night. Chase Perry (Andover, MN) made 26 saves
for the Wild, while Bo Didur had 36 stops for the Rivermen. Wenatchee went 2-for-6
on the power play and 4-of-4 on the penalty kill. “Proud of our guys, good
weekend for us.” said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach/General Manager Bliss Littler.
“I thought offensively we created many quality scoring chances. I’m guessing we
out-chanced them easily 3 to 1. Interesting tactic by Langley at the end, going
back to 1977 Broad Street Bullies. We definitely didn’t start the fights but we
finished them, I think we won every one of them, so I’m very proud of our guys.”
With the win, the Wild improves to 29-15-2-3 on the season; Langley
falls to 27-19-3-1. Wenatchee remains home to host the Prince George Spruce
Kings on Friday and Saturday, February 12th and 13th,
7:05pm both nights at the Town Toyota Center.

Third come back game, great! I feel the fights after time ran out was on the officials. 8.8 sec. to go they should have separated the teams dropped puck let time run out and clear the ice. Shame on them. Last home game is against Langley, I would hope the league would instruct their coach to stop fighting and just play hockey. WE did not start the fights just finished them.
No, the fights weren't on the officials. They just can't call a game off with that much time left on the clock.
