Moose Jaw, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors scored three times each in the first two periods and added one more in the third, protecting their end very well in the process, flying past the Tri-City Americans 7-0, before 3,230 at Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw.
Tate Popple got the Warriors off and running 80 seconds into the contest, from Danill Stepanov and Josh Brook for a 1-0 lead. Then Tristan Langan started on his 4 point night with a goal, assisted by Dalton Hamaliuk at 8:11, to make it 2-0. It was 3-0 after one, as Daemon Hunt scored from Brayden Tracey and Langan at 13:13.
The middle stanza opened up with a goal earlier than the first, as Jett Woo scored just 35 seconds in, assisted by Tracey and Langan to make it 4-0. The Moose Jaw lead grew to 5-0 as Tracey scored at 14:43, with helpers going to Brook and Ryan Peckford. Brook then scored from Langan at 17:30, to send the teams to the room, with the Warriors up 6-0.
Yegor Buyalski would score the only goal of the third period for Moose Jaw at 17:50, assisted by Brenden Kwiatkowski and Cameron Sterling, making the final 7-0 Warriors. Brodan Salmond made 32 saves in recording his first shutout this season for Moose Jaw and fourth of his WHL career. Beck Warm went the distance for Tri-City, making 22 saves.Special teams were a wash, with the Americans going 0-for-1 on the power play, with the Warriors being blanked in 4 opportunities.
With the win, Moose Jaw improves to 8-5-3-1, 4th in the East. The Americans slip to 11-6-0-0, 4th in the U.S.
Tri-City has little time to worry about this one, as they get right back on the horse Wednesday night, with a test at the 3-win Swift Current Broncos. Game time Wednesday is set for 5:00pm PDT. Air time with Craig West on Newstalk 870 KFLD and newstalk870.am is set for 4:45pm.
