Western Hockey League roundup for Wednesday, October 24th, 2019













Portland Winterhawks 4, Prince Albert Raiders 3

Portland withstood a Prince Albert 3rd period rally to win before 2,147 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Reece Newkirk scored twice for the Hawks, Set Jarvis and Jake Gricius added singles and Joel Hofer made 25 saves. For the Raiders, Jakob Brook, Jeremy Masella and Tyson Laventure scored, the tandem of Boston Bilous and Carter Serhyenko made 23 saves.

Kelowna Rockets 4, Prince George Cougars 2

Kelowna scored in each period and kept the Cougars off the board in the 3rd to win in front of 1,734 at CN Centre. Trevor Wong, Leif Mattson, Liam Kindree and Nolan Foote scored for the Rockets, while Roman Basran made 33 saves. For Prince George, Josh Maser and Ilijah Colina scored, Taylor Gauthier made 30 saves.

Spokane Chiefs 7, Brandon Wheat Kings 1

A night are putting up a 10 spot at Tri-City, Brandon could manage just 19 shots and 1 goal at Spokane, in front of 3,018 at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. Adam Beckman led the Chiefs offense with a goal and 4 assists, Eli Zumack and Filip Kral both had a goal and assist, Matt Leduc, Bear Hughes, Michael King and Luke Toporowski each scored a goal and Campbell Arnold made 18 saves. For the Wheat Kings, Jake Chiasson scored, Ethan Kruger and Connor Ungar combined to make 23 saves.
