Western Hockey League roundup for Saturday, November 2nd, 2019













Winnipeg ICE 4, Swift Current Broncos 0

Dean McNabb turned in a 21 save shutout and Nolan Orzeck, Nino Kinder, Jackson Leppard and Michael Milne scored goals, as the ICE won before 1,498 at Wayne Fleming Arena. Swift Current goaltender Isaac Poulter made 36 saves.

Lethbridge Hurricanes 5, Brandon Wheat Kings 2

3,312 looked on at Westoba Place, as Lethbridge came in and scored twice in the 2nd and 3rd periods, to win the game. Oliver Okullar rang up a hat trick, with Alex Thacker and D-Jay Jerome added goals, with Carl Tetachuk posting 29 saves. The Wheat Kings got goals from Neithan Salame and Ridly Greig, with Ethan Kruger making 29 saves.

Saskatoon Blades 3, Calgary Hitmen 2

Eric Florchuk scored twice, Tristen Robins once and Nolan Maier made 37 saves to lead the Blades to the win before 6,429 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary goals were scored by Blake Allen and Mark Kastelic. Jack McNaughton made 28 saves.

Prince Albert Raiders 5, Moose Jaw Warriors 1

Aliaksel Protas scored twice, Brayden Watts, Evan Herman and Spencer Moe once each, as the Raiders took the win before 3,007 at Mosaic Place. Prince Albert goaltender Carter Serhyenko had 32 stops. Moose Jaw's Ryder Korczak scored at 17:12 of the 3rd to spoil the shutout. Their goaltenders, Bailey Brkin and Adam Evanoff shared goalkeeping duties and made 30 saves.

Portland Winterhawks 2, Seattle Thunderbirds 1

Johnny Ludvig and Reece Newkirk staked Portland to a lead early in the 2nd, but Seattle's Alex Morozoff responded at 13:21 of the 2nd to cut the lead in half, but the Birds could get no closer as the Hawks hung on for the win at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Joel Hofer made 29 saves for Portland, Blake Lyda 36 for Seattle.

Everett Silvertips 3, Kamloops Blazers 2

Everett built a 3-1 lead early in the 3rd, then hung on to win before 5,349 home fans at Angel of The Winds Arena. Bryce Kindopp, Gage Goncalves and Justyn Gurney scored the Silvertips goals, Dustin Wolf had a busy night with 42 saves. Connor Zary and Zane Franklin scored for Kamloops, Dylan Garand made 25 saves.

Spokane Chiefs 6, Prince George Cougars 0

5 goals in the 2nd period blew Prince George into the Spokane River, with 6,321 witnesses to the pounding at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. Filip Kral scored twice for the Chiefs, singles were added by Eli Zummack, Matt Leduc, Bear Hughes and Brandon Reller. Campbell Arnold stopped all 27 shots he faced. Cougars goaltender Jacob Herman saved 32 of 38 shots against.

Vancouver Giants 6, Tri-City Americans 3

With 3,523 in the seats at Toyota Center, Vancouver grabbed the road win, overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the process. Dylan Plouffe and Justin Sourdif each scored twice, Lukas Svejkovsky and Cole Shepard once each, David Tendeck and Trent Miner combined to make 21 saves. For the Americans, Nick Bowman scored twice, Bryan McAndrews once and Beck Warm made 43 saves.

Medicine Hat Tigers 6, Victoria Royals 3

Medicine Hat scored 3 in the 3rd to take the road win, with 5,798 watching at Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena. James Hamblin had the hat trick for the Tigers, Corson Hopwo, Parker Gavlas and Ryan Chyzowskichipped in with singles. In net, Mats Sogaard made 27 saves. For the Royals, Gary Haden, Keanu Derungs and River Fahey scored goals, Shane Farkas made 29 saves.
