Yale University Retains No. 1 Ranking in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Yale University retains the No. 1 ranking in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll after defeating Dartmouth College and Harvard University last weekend. The Bulldogs, who boast a 14-1-0 record, collected 509 points and 33 first-place votes to claim the top spot for the fifth week in a row.

The University of North Dakota sits at No. 2 with 469 points and one first-place vote after twice defeating Robert Morris University, while Boston College (434) claims the No. 3 spot following wins over Providence College. The University of New Hampshire (406) is No. 4 after victories over the University of Massachusetts and University of Massachusetts Lowell, while the University of Minnesota Duluth (380) rounds out the top five after twice defeating Clarkson University in a weekend series.

Merrimack College makes its 2010-11 poll debut at No. 15 following a win over then-No. 11 University of Maine.

This weekend's top-15 match-ups feature No. 5 University of Minnesota Duluth hosting No. 11 University of Wisconsin in a weekend series, and No. 3 Boston College visiting No. 14 University of Maine.

NOTES: The Western Collegiate Hockey Association leads all conferences with five ranked teams, while Hockey East boasts four ranked programs, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and ECAC Hockey each have three ... A total of 20 teams received votes.

ABOUT THE POLL: The 16th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.

The BCS title game was tonight in Phoenix. Auburn gave up a touchdown and a two-point conversion, then drove the field for the winning kick as time expired, winning over Oregon 22-19. Kind of a sloppy game at times, but the finish was fun to watch.

A 70-year-old grandmother from Venice, Florida, has discovered what appears to be the world's first orange alligator. Sylvia Mythen She was returning from work on Thursday when she drove by the gator and had to back up for a double-take. Luckily, Sylvia wasn't frightened enough to miss out on a great photo opportunity.
