About the Poll: The 18th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the four NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.


On this date in 1928, the Federal Radio Commission issued the first U.S. television license to Charles Jenkins Laboratories in Washington, DC.


The schedules are set for this coming weekend, as the Tampa Bay Juniors Empire and Elite teams move into round two of the USPHL South Division playoffs.

The Empire team will be in Estero to take on the regular season division winning Florida Junior Blades. Games will be played this coming Friday, February 27th at 9:30pm EST, Saturday, February 28th at 7:45pm EST and Sunday, March 1st at 5:30pm (If necessary).

The Elite team will be home in Ellenton to face the Atlanta Junior Knights. The game on Saturday, February 28th will start at 3:00pm EST. On Sunday, March 1st, faceoff is set for 12:00pm EST. And, if game three is needed, it will be Monday, March 2nd at 2:00pm EST.

This day was commonly thought to be George Harrison's birthday. 1941 - The Boston Bruins set an NHL record after going 23 games unbeaten. Their record during the stretch was 15-0-8. 

1951 - The first Pan American Games opened in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

1957 - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that baseball was the only professional sport exempt from antitrust laws. 

1964 - Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) became heavyweight-boxing champion in an upset victory over Sonny Liston.

2005 - It was announced that the Walt Disney Co. had agreed to sell the Anaheim Mighty Ducks to billionaire Henry Samueli and his wife Susan. Samueli's company was the operator of Arrowhead Pond, the Mighty Ducks' home arena.
