Americans continue road trip tonight


The Tri-City Americans play game four of their mammoth 11 game tour away from home tonight, as they travel into the hostile environs of the Spokane Memorial Arena, to face-off with their arch-rivals, the Spokane Chiefs. The two teams met twice during the 2018 pre-season, with the Chiefs winning twice in Kennewick by scores of 7-3 and 5-1. Then, in the regular season lid-lifter, the Americans rolled to a dominant 6-1 home ice victory over Spokane. This is the second of twelve regular season meetings between the two teams.

The Americans are making the most of their homes away from home, as the current road slate started with a 3-2 overtime with over Seattle on October 20th and continues through their semi-annual swing through the East, which concludes in Saskatoon on November 17th. Tri-City is led by Captain Nolan Yaremko, who has tallied 9 goals and 12 assists in 12 games. Beck Warm has manned the net for 11 of the first 12 games this season, compiling a 2.80 goals against average and a .905 saves percentage. Tri-City is 6-4-0-0 in their past 10 games. The Americans are 10 for 54, 18.5% on the power play and 42 of 54 on the penalty kill, 77.8%. Last season, the Ams were 5-3-4-0 versus their arch rivals. In their last game, the Americans won in Prince George 4-3 in a shootout. Their next game after tonight, is on Friday, November 2nd, at Everett.

The Chiefs, 5-2-1-2 in their past 10, are paced by Riley Woods and Ty Smith. Woods has 8 goals and 9 assists for 17 points in 13 games, while Smith has 2 goals and 15 assists in 11 games. In 8 games, Bailey Brkin has an 1.98 goals against average and .935 saves percentage, while Dawson Weatherill is at 5.16 and .813 in 5 appearances. Spokane, 7-3-1-1 last season against Tri-City, is 14 for 57, 24.6% on the power play and 43 of 52 on the penalty kill, 81.1% with 1 short handed goal for. The Chiefs won 4-1 at home versus Portland last night and next play on Tuesday, October 30th, hosting Seattle.
